Title : Need based training for IMED officials on procurement of goods, works and services
Description : The Implementation Monitoring and Evaluation Division (IMED) of the Ministry of Planning arranged a brief and need based training for its officials on the procurement of goods, works and services on June 5, 2016 (Sunday). The Central Procurement Technical Unit (CPTU) under IMED conducted the half-day training in its conference room. A total of 13 officials of IMED including four joint secretaries participated in the training. Additional Secretary and Director General of CPTU Md Faruque Hosssain and Deputy Director (e-GP) Md Nasimur Rahman Sharif provided training to the officials in two consecutive sessions. KM Ali Newaz, Training Coordinator of CPTU, coordinated the training. The DG, CPTU in his session dwelt on history and reforms in public procurement in the country, constitutional and international obligations and obligation to citizens regarding public procurement, its principles and establishment of sustainable procurement. He also dealt at length with rights of the procuring entities in the process of public procurement. Nasimur Rahman Sharif touched upon delegation of financial power, standard tender documents, sources of procurement budget, annual procurement plan, methods and committees in procurement of goods, works and services, approving authorities etc. Ashfakul Islam, Senior e-GP Consultant, made a presentation on the e-GP system in the training. The officials took interest in the training and interacted with the trainers on various aspects of public procurement. Such need based training for more officials of IMED is likely to be organized later.
