The Central Procurement Technical Unit (CPTU) conducted an orientation session for policy makers on public procurement management at the Conference Room of the Implementation Monitoring and Evaluation Division, Ministry of Planning, on February 25, 2016.
On behalf of CPTU the consulting firm Fineurop, engaged in capacity development and professionalization, facilitated the orientation as part of 18 categories of courses under the Component 1 of the Public Procurement Reform Project-II.
Secretary of the IME Division Farid Uddin Ahmed Chowdhury inaugurated the orientation session. Team Leader of Fineurop Liam Heavin and Deputy Team leader Khwaja Ghulam Ahmed were also present.
Director General of CPTU Md Faruque Hossain made a presentation on the overall aspects of public procurement before the senior policy makers of the government.
A total of 19 senior officials, including four secretaries, from the Ministry of Food, Local Government Division, Cabinet Division, Planning Commission, Economic Relations Division, Ministry of Environment and Forest, Ministry of Housing and Public Works, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Road Transport and Highways Division, IMED, Ministry of Education took part in the half-day short course on public procurement management.
In his remarks the IMED Secretary expressed the hope that such orientation for the policy making officials would be helpful for decision making in the areas of planning and processing of public procurement.
He said the CPTU is now implementing e-GP in line with the government vision for building digital Bangladesh. World Bank is supporting the PPRP-II under which e-GP is being implemented. |
