Description | : | The government is going to make the use of e-GP mandatory for public procurement in the country. On 15 June 2025, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Bangladesh Public Procurement Authority (BPPA), Mr. Mirza Ashfaqur Rahman, said this while speaking as the chief guest at a program titled "Orientation Programme on Public Procurement and e-GP", held at Kalapara Upazila in Patuakhali district. BPPA organized the programme at the Upazilla Parishad auditorium at Kalapara, in Patuakhali. Participants were informed about the latest amendment to the Public Procurement Act 2006. About 30 participants, including procuring entities and tenderers attended the orientation programme. Mr. Easin Sadek, Assistant Commissioner (Land), Kalapara Upazila, Patuakhali, presided over the program. Mr. Shariful Haque, e-GP team member from Dohatec, conducted the orientation on e-GP. Bangladesh Center for Communication Programs (BCCP) managed the event. Explaining the importance of the programme, Mr. Mirza Ashfaqur Rahman said that BPPA aims to raise awareness among all concerned, including PEs and tenderers, about the Public Procurement Act (PPA), Public Procurement Rules (PPR), the latest amendments to the PPA, and the e-GP Guidelines. During his presentation on public procurement and e-GP, he outlined the background of formulating the PPA and PPR, as well as the progress made in implementing e-GP. He also discussed the necessity of establishing BPPA and the inclusion of sustainable public procurement (SPP). He highlighted various modules added to the e-GP system, such as e-CMS, the tenderers’ database, integration with iBAS++, and the introduction of e-Audit, which have made e-GP a comprehensive online system. Referring to the recent amendment to the PPA, he stated that the use of e-GP has been made mandatory and it will take effect soon after the formulation of the corresponding Rules by November 2025. On 16 June 2025, a workshop titled "Functions of BPPA and e-GP Experience Sharing" was organized by BPPA at the Circuit House auditorium in Patuakhali. Abu Hasnat Mohammed Arefin, Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate, presided over the workshop. Bangladesh Center for Communication Programs (BCCP) managed it. About 60 participants, including PEs, tenderers, bankers, and journalists, attended the event. Speakers at the program included Mr. Juwel Rana, Deputy Director, Local Government, Patuakhali; Mr. Md. Hossain Ali Mir, Executive Engineer, LGED, Patuakhali; Dr. Md. Khaledur Rahman Mia, Civil Surgeon, Patuakhali; and Md. Sajedul Islam, Assistant Police Commissioner, Patuakhali. Mr. Shariful Haque, e-GP team member from Dohatec, conducted orientation on e-GP. |
