A two-day workshop on designing training curriculum for public procurement related social awareness and communication concluded at the training room of the Bangladesh Academy for Planning and Development in the city on June 23, 2011.
Organized by the Central Procurement Technical Unit of IME Division and facilitated by the Bangladesh Centre for Communication Programs (BCCP) the workshop for designing training curriculum on social awareness and communication for the media, civil society, bidding community and procuring entities began on June 22, 2011.
Secretary of the IME Division Md Habib Ullah Majumder opened the workshop as the Chief Guest while CPTU Director General Amulya Kumar Debnath presided over the inaugural session.
Representatives from the bidding community, media, civil society and procuring entities attended the workshop. They provided suggestions and inputs for designing the training curriculum.
Training on procurement related social awareness and communication would be provided to the media, civil society, bidding community and the procuring entities at the division and district levels under the Public procurement Reform Project-II supported by the World Bank.
The CPTU has been implementing the PPRP-II to ensure transparency, accountability, equal treatment to all and fair competition in the process of public procurement in Bangladesh.
About 75 per cent of the ADP allocations are spent for procurement of goods, works and services every year. Public procurement is done with the public funds under the Public Procurement Act 2006 and the Public Procurement Rules 2008 and their amendments. |
