INFORMATION FOR APPLICANT

| Brief Description of Assignment |
: |
"The Urban Design Specialist shall assist the Project Director (PD) of DCNUP by providing technical expertise in urban and building design, carrying out technical appraisal of sub-project proposals,
The consultant shall also provide project management and coordination support to the PD as required. The activities include, but not limited to:
a) Assist PD in sub-project prioritization based on the readiness assessment.
b) Assist PD in coordinating with the Design, Supervision and Management (DSM) consultants in sub-project proposal preparation and appraise the proposals.
c) Assist the PD in managing DSM consultants, and reviewing work based on the application of best practices of urban and building design, adherence to national standards, regulations and codes for sub-projects design and construction.
d) Ensure all sub-project designs adhere to all engineering standards and compliance guidelines, and all necessary approvals are obtained from relevant agencies.
e) In coordination with other PIU members and the PD, provide input to citizen engagement strategy and participate in participatory planning and design of DNCUP sub-projects.
f) Promote a culture of innovation and creative thinking in design and construction practice that is sensitive to people and environment, including the consideration of how to integrate new or alternative design and public consultation approaches.

| Experience, Resources and Delivery Capacity Required |

"? Education :
S/he must have at a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from a reputable University. An advance degree in urban design/ planning will be an advantage.
? Relevant skills:
Proficiency in using Windows operating system, professional two-dimensional design software (e.g., AutoCAD) will be essential.
? Person specification:
The candidate must be pro-active, willing to take challenge and find innovative solutions, a team-player within a multi-disciplinary team. S/he should pose management skills and ability to trouble-shot as and when necessary. Candidates must be able to work under limited supervision and experience of working in multi-disciplinary team environment.
? Experience:
S/he must have at least 10 (Ten) years of relevant experience of which at least Four (4) years’ proven experience of working on urban development projects; at least two (2) years of experience with construction site management. Prior experience of working with local government agencies and in donor-funded projects will be of advantage. |
