INFORMATION FOR APPLICANT

| Brief Description of Assignment |
: |
The Marine Spatial Planning (MSP) Specialist will work in close cooperation with the Delta Wing in order to develop traditional and emerging oceanic activities in a sustainable fashion, facilitate and support their integrated planning and provide technical assistance to implement the Marine Spatial Planning for Bangladesh. The Marine Spatial Planning Specialist (MSP) will be required to undertake the following tasks:
? Support the overall design of the Marine Spatial Planning
? Provide technical support to the Delta Wing in the fields of MSP, Integrated Coastal Zone Management and, where appropriate, Marine Protected Areas.
? In collaboration with the Delta Wing, develop new approaches to allow the incorporation of natural capital accounting in decision-making in marine and coastal areas, develop MSP and decision-making tools, and identify investment and policy interventions.
? Contribute to the preparation of strategies for MSP, in particular presentations and briefing notes, case studies, and outreach material.
? Contribute to other knowledge management activities, as requested by Delta Wing. |
| Experience, Resources and Delivery Capacity Required |
: |
? PhD degree in Marine Policy/Marine Affairs/Oceanography/ Geography (or related field), including courses in Marine Planning, Coastal Management, Coastal Processes, and/or Marine Biodiversity Conservation. Good understanding of GIS as applied to marine ecosystems preferred.
? Minimum of 5 years of relevant, technical professional experience with demonstrated focus on marine and coastal ecosystems.
? Good knowledge of and demonstrated experience in MSP and/or coastal zone management. Additional experience in other marine economic sectors (e.g. fisheries, ports and shipping, pollution management, Ecosystem Service/Marine Environment/coastal island, mangroves) preferred.
? Training on MSP would be an advantage.
? Excellent organizational skills and ability to work independently and in teams.
? Committed team player with demonstrated inter-personal skills.
? Basic understanding of policy making process.
? Excellent communication skills, oral and written, with a record of peer-reviewed publications preferred. |
