Approval of the TAPP  –On acceptance recommendations of the Country Procurement Assessment Report (CPAR), a TAPP: Public Procurement Reform Project (PPRP) was formulated and approved in February 2002 by the Government.
–The estimated cost of the Project is Tk. 2824.60 lakh (GOB - 267.30 lakh & PA 2557.30 lakh) for the duration May 2002 to April 2005.
Financing of the Project  – IDA agreed to finance the project.
–The DCA was formally signed in June 2002 for an investment amount equivalent to US $ 4.5 million and the Credit became effective from August, 2002.
Establishment of Central Procurement Technical Unit (CPTU)  –The CPTU was established (with 19 Posts) as an unit of the IMED under revenue budget in April 2002.
–The unit is fully functioning
Establishment of International Training Centre (ITC) Consultant support team  – To facilitate the procurement reform and procurement training, a service agreement between IMED and ITC, Turin, Italy was signed in June 2002.
Project Launching Workshop  –The Project Launching Workshop was held in September, 2002.
Effective & timely implementation of project activities: Steering Committee and Working Groups  – A Project Steering Committee comprising 20 members from selected 14 Ministries/Divisions has been formed in September 2002 for effective and orderly handling of the project activities.
–Two Working Groups with relevant representatives from 64 public and private organizations have been formed in January on: (a) Procurement of Works and Services (34 members and (b) Procurement of Goods and Services (30 members).
–The Groups review and furnish comments/suggestions on various documents prepared under the PPRP.
Selection of Local Training Institution  – The Bangladesh Institute of Administration and Management (BIAM) Foundation has been selected as the local training institution for conducting National Training on Procurement in collaboration with ITC & the CPTU.
– An agreement has been signed in March 2003 with BIAM Foundation for conducting a total of 76 training programmes and about 1600 participants over a period of 27 months.
